Our Philosophy

The New Lenox Youth Football Association is a member of the River Valley Football League and is hereafter known as NLYFA. The NLYFA is dedicated to providing a safe, productive and competitive learning environment for boys and girls. The NLYFA is committed to providing experienced adult volunteers who are passionate about teaching the fundamentals of football and cheerleading. Every decision we make begins with, "what is in the best interests of the child." The goal of NLYFA and the River Valley Football League is to provide the highest quality football and cheerleading program available. We accomplish this goal by promoting a healthy and positive attitude in every aspect of our program.

About the NLYFA

  • Not-for-profit Organization
  • Provides Experienced Coaches
  • Quality Equipment
  • Feeder Program for the Lincoln-Way Area High Schools

Volunteers

Our organization cannot exist without volunteers who are willing to maintain a positive and exciting environment for our participating youths. The NLYFA exists for the benefit of our community's children and can only be successful through your participation. If you have questions about volunteering, please contact our president.

Policies and Documents

Volunteer Information

Our organization cannot exist without volunteers who are willing to maintain a positive and exciting environment for our participating youth.

In order to maintain your alumni status and receive your $100 volunteer refund (per family) you are required to volunteer for the organization 3 (three) times for the season per family.

Opportunities for earning volunteer credits for the league are as follows concessions, spirit wear sales, set-up, clean up, split the pot, chains, trash, committee assignments, and others as needed.

One credit must be earned in either the Concession Stand or Concession Stand Set up.

At the time of equipment handout a check made payable to the NLYFA in the amount of $100 will be collected from each family. This check will be returned to you at the time of equipment turn in once all volunteer requirements have been met.

Volunteer sign up will occur ON-LINE and you will be notified when the sign up period is open. Time frames for games are approximate and can run longer due to weather conditions or injuries on the field. Please keep this in mind when you are signing up as we need you to be there for the entire game. If you are unable sign up online OR do not sign up for the required 3 credits, you will be able to sign up on Monday& Tuesday the first week of practice. After that, volunteer jobs will be assigned and finalized. Once the assignments have been finalized all trades and switching will be done through the team parent and communicated to the Volunteer Directors. If you are unable to fulfill your assignment and have exhausted all other options you must notify your Volunteer Directors.

In order to get credit for volunteering you must check in and check out with the Volunteer Director. Failure to do will be considered a NO SHOW. This includes Standby (On Call). As per NLYFA rule, failure to complete a volunteer assignment will result in your child having their helmet/poms pulled and sitting the next game or until the assignment is made up. This will be strictly enforced.

Please note that you are signing up for what you want (first come first serve) and the game time you want. If you sign up during your child’s game, then you are expected to work then. If you do not sign up and are assigned, every effort will be made to you assign you opposite your child’s game, but there is no guarantee . There is a chance that assignments will be made during your child’s game and you will be expected to work then.

The NLYFA does NOT have a “volunteer buyout” option.

New Survey Form

Dear Families of the NLYFA,

The administration of the NLYFA would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for your involvement in this organization. This year was a tremendous success and a lot of fun for us all. Our sixteen teams (8 Football and 8 Cheer) showed dramatic improvement again in 2012, as we as an organization continued to grow and learn from one another. NLYFA offered several opportunities outside the regular football/Cheer season during 2011 for our young athletes to develop their athletic skills and would like to continue this in the future.
